I found this particularly applicable to my current personal situation as I contemplate a major career move. I think, however, the sentiment could be summed up more succinctly using a term from my old rugby days: No pain, no gain!
One of the most rewarding things that I’ve found is to make myself do what I really am fearful about. Once I’ve walked through it, I feel so successful and positive. Even if it doesn’t turn out the way I anticipate, I learn alot from it. Also, the scariest event for me was when I held my firstborn daughter, leaving the hospital with her in my arms, knowing that I was responsible for this little life and not knowing what and how to be a mother–just feeling such a tremendous amount of love for her.
The tougher the job, the greater the reward.
