“Nothing gives one person so much advantage over another as to remain always cool and unruffled under all circumstances.”

–Thomas Jefferson

I do find this to be true in many different situations. From staying calm in an emergency, to arguing with someone who’s not staying cool and unruffled, you have a clear advantage if you remain calm and in control. Not to mention you look better to your bosses at work if you don’t go screaming down the hall pulling your hair out because your computer just freaked and you lost a day’s worth of work but instead you just sit calmly at your computer staring at the blue screen of death.

  • Having stared at the BSoD many times myself in my professional career, I can well attest to the value of staying calm.

It’s a lot of fun to throw your coffee cup at the monitor and scream “FUCK” at the top of your lungs, too.

I’m always thankful when cooler heads prevail. By “cooler heads,” I don’t mean those caps with the beer cozies and straws that people wear to sports events. I mean oh nevermind this just gets me sooooooooooo upset I could just scream a bad word and throw a caffeine beverage at expensive technology!

I was very fortunate to work for a very professional woman. I really got to know her well and I must say that she her feathers were never ruffled. (We worked in a highly stressful atmosphere). I don’t know how she managed to stay as centered as reserved and “ladylike” in any and all situations. She sure impressed me. I think the world of her and am still totally amazed at how well she handled herself and everyone else under extreme moments and times of stress. She has my upmost respect and admiration. She never LOST HER COOL ever!!
