More hot air from Congress

The Santa Ana winds have been blowing hot air across California long before man stepped foot on the continent.  On Tuesday on the Hill.com web site, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid decided to add his bellowing in declaration that this disaster was somehow related to man-made global warming.

Officials said Tuesday the winds and high temperatures are expected to continue. But when the fires do stop, lawmakers likely will debate the cause of the fire. One reason why we have the fires in California is global warming, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told reporters Tuesday, stressing the need to pass the Democrats comprehensive energy package.

Moments later, when asked by a reporter if he really believed global warming caused the fires, he appeared to back away from his comments, saying there are many factors that contributed to the disaster.

Fire has been sweeping across California for so long that a large number of trees such as the giant redwood have adapted to the point that their seeds will only open after a fire has passed through its forest.   To come along now and say that human-based global warming is the cause of these winds and fires is ludicrous and irresponsible, but it won’t stop Harry Reid from trying to use this tragedy for the political ends of his party.

Once thing is certain from witnessing the brutality of this fire is that humanity has not been on this planet long enough to know its environmental extremes.

I think Harry Reid should be fired for these comments.
