Here is today’s political cartoon of the week, submitted by noted political cartoonist, I.P. “Ip” Freely. Professor Freely calls this one, “A Gun Is Worth a Thousand Words: A Tribute to Queen Creek Parents, Teachers, and Administrators.” For context, please see a previous The Waterglass post.
Ip’s cartoon is deeply disturbing in a way that the other young man’s was not.
Personally, if I was a teacher and had seen a student of mine drawing this, I would have alerted the authorities and the local insane asylum.
It’s…it’s creepy.
I’m sure Ip was not going for shock value. I’m not quite sure what Ip is doing here. It seems Ip had something postmodern in mind, with the referent being the subject or some crap like that.
I think the happy faces on the gun were the last straw for the school, but Ip was just imitating the other artist here. The action by the trigger is also mysterious.
