There’s a new deck of playing cards being produced:
PARIS, Sept. 25 ? Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is the Ace of Spades and al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden a Joker in a provocative pack of French playing cards depicting ?the 52 most dangerous American officials.?
A riposte to the ?most-wanted? cards of Iraqi leaders issued to U.S. soldiers, the deck is the latest commercial offering by a radical think tank whose conspiracy theory account of the Sept. 11 attacks stormed French bestseller charts last year.
?We?ve already sold some 2,500 decks. That?s not bad considering we couldn?t find anyone who was willing to print them at first,? said Thierry Meyssan, president of the Paris-based Reseau Voltaire group.
No, the French aren’t our enemies, but they hate us still.
Merde in France has a review of the cards.
The Dissident Frogman made up his own deck.
(Thanks to Amy V. for the pointer)
This doesn’t mean anything. If they hadn’t done it, someone who wanted to make a buck in this country would have. In fact, I believe there is a playing deck of all liberals for sale.
Going back one post: Yes, a large portion of western Europe would like to see our country drop into the sea. Western Europe is a civilization in decline. For the past twenty years, our culture, fashion and entertainment have been creeping their way into the Europe mainstream slowly replacing their traditions. The Europeans are struggling to find a new identity in this world and they are simply bitter about it.
The Euro is just their way of trying to become more competative with the American and Japanese economies. The Euro doing well against the dollar is actually a good thing for us. It means that our products will be cheaper for Europe to buy. They may hate us, but they want the latest CD by Nelly and that Double Whopper with cheese.
Well, Morgan, the creator of this deck, Thierry Meyssan, is the founder of a French organization known as the Voltaire Network.
Meyssan has been invited to every broke-dick backwards-ass third-world shithole in the Middle East to talk about his book titled, “9/11: The Big Lie.” In it, he claims that the U.S. government flew airplanes into the Twin Towers and shot down the other planes with guided missiles. It’s quite a big seller abroad, and has a big following amongst the professional America haters (most of Europe and the Middle East).
So yes, I suppose just about anyone else on Earth could have made up this sort of deck, but a clear consideration of the source tells us that it’s another symbol of anti-American tripe vomited out by vermin who have achieved legitimacy through book sales. As such, I think it’s worthy to see what the other side is doing.
The following sites talk a bit more about Meyssan, his book, and his “organization:”

As an american living abroad in France, i’m getting rather irritated by all this US machoism, xenophobia, and superiority. I’m also irritated by the total lack of education by those who seem to constantly spout their mouths off.
First of all, no, the French do NOT hate us. It’s not like they’re over here in France lighting American flags on fire and throwing stones at anyone who speaks english. In fact, many french are puzzled and confused why americans are directing so much hostility towards them over the Iraq issue. While I do not support Saddam Hussien and his regime, if some of you people would actually take the time to read a newspaper, you’d realize that, indeed, the French were right: Hussien didn’t have weapons of mass destruction, Hussien is NOT Al Quieda (in fact, comparing the two sounds incredible to most of the
more internationally conscious world, who realize, unlike too many americans, that Al Quieda and Hussien hate each other), and, as we’ve now seen in Israel, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, the war in Iraq has only created another base of operations for bin Laden and has provided him with fresh troops. Of course, the French and the UN were trying to tell us this, but Bush wouldn’t listen and if any of you would actually look at the situation right now in the middle east, in regard to terrorism, things are much worse and they’re going downhill pretty steadily.
As for the comments on euro, that is incredibly ridiculous. Investors are pulling away from the dollar and any economist will tell you that in regards to the european market, the dollar getting weaker is bad for us. Uneducated Americans under the egotistical impression that Europe still needs American goods think that the weak dollar makes it cheaper for Europeans to by american goods, but as it is, Europe is very self-sufficient (in fact, in many markets, there is a massive over-production) and it is still much cheaper for europeans to buy within the Union than outside of it. Furthermore, since Bush has pissed the major European countries off (France and German) he has pushed them closer to Russia, whith whom the Union is working out a deal for russian oil (russia and norway are both very oil-rich countries) which was probably the one market that the US could have held over Europe’s head. I’m not anti-american, in fact I care very much about my country, which is why it pisses me off when hicks like you shoot your mouths off and why it irritates me when the Bush regime takes positions that greatly strain international relations. America needs to wake-up and start being more aware of and sensitive to the international community, or else our economy will continue to struggle and the lives of americans both in the country and outside of it will become increasingly jeopordized. Something that I certainly don’t want to happen and i would hope the rest of you hope so as well.
Well, Liam, I could refute your discussion point by point, demonstrating that the French economy is going straight down the tubes due to socialism no matter how strong the Euro might be today, how anecdotal evidence is essentially worthless when it comes to the character and behavior of an entire country, and the rest of it.
But you called me a hick, so I’m just going to leave you with the fact that I have never met a man who bitched about “machoism” that wasn’t a total pussy. Get your teeth out of the French pillow you’ve been biting, pull up your pants, and be a man, for Christ’s sake.
