Al-Qaida’s number two man called for a jihad on Israel on Thursday. While that was no surprise, his declaration of the extent of jihad should alarm those who live in Europe. In MSNBC.com, Ayman al-Zawahri declared that the jihad will last until Islam prevails from Spain to Israel.
CAIRO, Egypt – Al-Qaida’s No. 2 leader issued a worldwide call Thursday for Muslims to rise up in a holy war against Israel and join the fighting in Lebanon and Gaza until Islam reigns from “Spain to Iraq.”
In a taped message broadcast by Al-Jazeera television, Ayman al-Zawahri said the terrorist organization would not stand idly by while “these (Israeli) shells burn our brothers.
“All the world is a battlefield open in front of us,” said the Egyptian-born al-Zawahri, second-in-command to Osama bin Laden.
“The war with Israel does not depend on cease-fires … . It is a Jihad for the sake of God and will last until (our) religion prevails … from Spain to Iraq,” al-Zawahri said. “We will attack everywhere.” Spain was controlled by Arab Muslims until they were driven from the country at the turn of the 16th century.
I hope Zawahri’s words resonate loudly throughout the European continent. Until now, the countries of Europe believe that this was a situation where it was live and let live. As long as the radical Muslim groups were appeased, these countries didn’t have to worry about terrorist attacks within their borders. Zawahri has now declared that the radical Muslim movement will not be satisfied until the crescent moon flies above every country in Europe.
The statements from Zawahri shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who has paid attention to the rhetoric coming from the leaders of these terrorist groups. These are people who are set on Islamic domination and will create havoc until it happens. Now the countries of Europe have a choice: They can either confront these fanatics or buy a mat and learning the direction of Mecca.
They’ll probably just ignore it. Because doing something about it would mean fighting, and killing people.
I’m sick of it. Someone needs to stand up with Israel, and start fighting.
As and aside, I’d like to see one of you guys write something up on the Prime Minister of Iraq. Supposedly he said a bunch of crap about Israel, and I guess we (America) just ignored it.
I would agree with you if the Prime Minister wasn’t playing a politics game trying to stave off a full blown civil war in Iraq. He has to distance himself from the U.S. and especially Israel or else he’ll be labeled a puppet of the U.S government.
I’ve written about Iraqi anti-Semitism in the following posts, before I got tired of it:

As I’ve said before, I don’t feel that the Iraqi people are particularly deserving of redemption through our blood and treasure, but I’m not going to throw them under the bus, either. My support for this war has always been as a form of self-defense (the most effective self-defense is preemption). Like the vast majority of the Arab world, the Iraqis are benighted and lacking in many of the basic mores of a free, prosperous society like our own, but they don’t deserve to die under a murderous dictator’s whims over it.
I haven’t heard about al-Maliki saying anying particularly anti-Israel lately.
Thanks for the links. I think maybe it got a little blown out of proportion. He didn’t actually say anything, he just didn’t say anything negative about Hezbollah. Reporters took that to mean he hated israel, and then reported it that way. I guess I fell for it.
Aha! Trust, but verify.
