I don’t really believe this story, but if it’s true…
“WESTMINSTER, Colorado (AP) — A motorcyclist died after he was struck by lightning while riding in rush hour traffic between Denver and Boulder, police said.
Witnesses reported seeing a flash of light shortly before the motorcyclist struck the center divider on U.S. 36 Wednesday, police spokesman Tim Read said. Gary Missi, 46, of Longmont was pronounced dead at the scene.
A coroner’s investigation was under way to determine whether the lightning bolt, the collision or something else caused his death, Read said.
The lightning blasted a 4-inch-deep hole in the highway and sent chunks of asphalt hurtling across the highway.”
Had this been 3,000 years ago — assuming the guy was on a horse — a witness would be sure that this was truly the hand of the Lord. For those who question some of the Bible’s assertions, e.g. did the Lord really send up a wall of fire to block the Egyptians, or did He really turn Lot’s wife into a pillar of salt, etc., especially that the Lord smites people from above, you’d have to think just one more time about it. I’m not saying that the motorcycle guy deserved it in any way. The Lord works in mysterious ways.
It probably didn’t matter in this case if the guy was wearing a helmet.
Imagine sitting in traffic and then getting hit by a bolt of lightning. Not the car next to you, not the cars up the road, but you, and you alone, were hit with a bolt of lightning. It’s a frightening thought.
I wonder what the government will do about this problem.
You can try to cover it up any way you can, Joshua, but we all know that it’s not God’s work. It’s the work of Bush’s weather machine.
The story’s true. They were showing the 4-inch whole in the asphalt on the news this morning. We are expecing storms again tonight, so stay off the roads!
“I wonder what the government will do about this problem.”
I laughed really hard when I read that.
THIS IS NO JOKE.
Keep using my name in vain. I’ll make rush hour longer.
Was he using his cell phone at the time?
