It’s high noon for Lay and Skilling:
“Enron former chief executive Jeffrey Skilling and founder Kenneth Lay were found guilty Thursday of conspiracy and fraud in the granddaddy of all corporate fraud cases. On the sixth day of deliberations, a jury of eight women and four men convicted the former executives of misleading the public about the true financial health of Enron, whose collapse in late 2001 symbolized the wave of corporate fraud that swept the United States early this decade.”
“HOUSTON (AP) — Enron founder Kenneth Lay was convicted today of all six counts against him, including conspiracy to commit securities and wire fraud. Former Enron Chief Executive Jeffrey Skilling was convicted of conspiracy to commit securities and wire fraud.”
Good.
I hope that by the time they get out of jail, we’ll have not only colonized Mars, but also Jupiter, Saturn, and the planets circling Barnard’s Star.
I agree. They’re lucky that the employees of Enron who’s lifesavings were decimated by the fraud didn’t blow their kneecaps off with a shotgun.
Hopefully, this will be a lesson to all of those executives who want to impress the stockholders by cooking the books.
Won’t they just appeal for years and years, etc.
