Aggie found this one:

“Man is the best computer … and the only one that can be mass produced with unskilled labor.” – Werner Von Braun (1912-1977)

“And woman is the worst. When it decides to go crazy on you and you try to interrupt it’s undecipherable logic, it just can be done. You have to just disconnect and go to bed.”

As to Werner Von Braun. Reminds me of an anecdote from William Manchester’s “The Making of a President–1960″. It seems JFK’s entourage was travelling from Albany to NYC by car; on a meandering New York route 9W as it were. In a pre-JEOPARDY moment, JFK’s press secretary Pierre Salinger said, “Let’s play a game where, let’s see, 9W is the answer.” One of Kennedy’s Ivy League cronies, I think it was probably Ted Sorensen, came up with the best question.

It was: “Dr. Von Braun, do you spell your first name with a V?

God, how I pine for the days of wit and intelligence in the White House.

Yes. I am Aggie’s weird Uncle. So be nice to me….I saw her naked long before you did.

  • I don’t quite know what to say to that.

Hee, hee! That’s my funny uncle!

Oopps. Mea Culpa. The reference to William Manchester should be, instead, Theodore White. Fortunately the technology of the internet allows me to correct any of my misinformation.

Thank you, once again, Al Gore.
