Spinach Flu: Thank God It’s Over

The FDA is lifting the ban:

Most fresh spinach in the United States is “as safe as it was” before a nationwide E. coli outbreak, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said, revising a two-week-old consumer warning.

The warning now covers only specific brands packaged on certain dates. Consumers should continue avoiding spinach recalled earlier [...]

Another gutless celebrity bashes America from abroad

On Thursday, director and part-time loony conspiracy theorist, Oliver Stone declared to a crowd in Spain that he was ashamed for his country for its overall response to the attacks of 9/11. Ironically, Stone was on tour drumming up business for his film, “World Trade Center.” The event was covered by the Associated Press and [...]

“Kip Hawley is an Idiot” vs. “You can’t write things like that”

I share the frustrations of everyone who goes through security nowadays. Unlike me, however, this guy obviously wanted to cause a ruckus:

“WASHINGTON (CNN) — A Wisconsin man who wrote “Kip Hawley is an Idiot” on a plastic bag containing toiletries said he was detained at an airport security checkpoint for about 25 minutes before [...]

Spinach Flu Day 16: Natural Selection Foods Update

More good news:

Tests by regulators of two California food-processing plants linked to an outbreak of E. coli in bagged spinach found no contamination by the toxic bacteria, a top officer with their operator said on Thursday.

Tests by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the California Department of Health and an independent laboratory show [...]

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“Now it’s critical for us to get the word around that we never were the culprit.” –Don Patterson, one of the partners in the A.H. Lowe & Son [spinach] farms in Cranbury, New Jersey.

Transfat: It’s what for dinner!

In an effort to save the populace of New York City from clogged arteries, health officials have begun proposing banning artificial trans fatty acids. Newsmax.com reported on this crusade against the heart-stopping substances.

Three years after the city banned smoking in restaurants, health officials are talking about prohibiting something they say is almost as bad: [...]

Photo of the Week

Test results linking two bags of Dole brand baby spinach to a deadly E. coli strain have helped health officials hone in on a specific batch from a San Juan Bautista processing plant that may be the source of a nationwide outbreak….”We probably are seeing the tail end of [...]

Spinach Flu Goes International

O, Canada!

A Canadian woman was recently hospitalized after eating spinach from the United States tainted with E. coli bacteria, a food inspection agency spokesman said.

The strain killed one woman and made 172 people ill in 25 US states in recent months, prompting a massive dumping of spinach from store shelves throughout the continent.

The hottest temperatures in a million years

Just days after NASA scientists were saying that the oceans were cooling, other NASA scientists at LiveScience.com claim that the Earth is close to the highest temperatures in a million years. In fact, they claim if the Earth gains even another degree Celsius, it will beat that record temperature.

Global temperatures are dangerously close [...]

Spinach Flu: It’s Bush’s Fault

I’m not making this up:

He did. Bush Administration officials planted ineffectual political operatives in high level positions as a reward for campaigning for the Republicans.

Bush administration officials cut the budget and the staff for the FDA, we have all heard this before, two or three years ago.

Expect more of this lack of [...]

Spinach Flu Epidemic, Day 12: Utah Latest to Be Hit, MSM Fails American Populace Once Again

The Spinach Flu has found Utah:

“A second bag of spinach contaminated with toxic E.coli bacteria has been found in Utah, and regulators hope it will offer clues about an outbreak that has now sickened 173 people and killed as many as three. A bag of spinach found in New Mexico last week helped experts [...]

Global warming takes five.

Despite the apocalyptic predictions made by the press and environmentalist in the past few years over global warming, there seems to be an unexplainable cooling in the Earth’s oceans. Live Science.com went on to explain that ocean temperature is typically the primary way that most climatologists measure global warming.

Despite the long term warming [...]

President Clinton on FOX Interviewed by Chris Wallace: Not Very Presidential, but I Understand the Anger

Take your pick: If you read the conservative blogs, President Clinton “blew his top” at seemingly innocuous questions. If you read the liberal blogs, Clinton “rips into” Chris Wallace on FOX for trying to feed red meat to the conservatives. As usual, Hot Air has the timely video feed.

In my opinion, I understand where [...]

Political Cartoon of the Week

Here is today’s political cartoon of the week, submitted by noted political cartoonist, I.P. “Ip” Freely:

Spinach Flu Day 11: It’s Not Over Yet

We’re all still in danger:

The outbreak of E. coli linked to fresh spinach was blamed for another five cases of illness Saturday, raising the number of people sickened to 171, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported.

The number of states affected held steady at 25. So far, 92 people have been hospitalized, [...]
